This highly successful seminar sponsored by Tongji University was held July 19-21, 2013 in Shanghai, China. Over 320 participants gathered together for lectures, demonstrations and clinical rounds focused on contemporary mechanical ventilation techniques. Dr. Xiangyu Zhang, FCCP, FACCM, a critical care specialist, administered and provided medical direction for the Tongji Forum which was approved by the International Education Recognition System (IERS). Through the IERS process the AARC recognizes quality international Respiratory Care educational programs, as in the case of the Tongji Forum, which met the educational guidelines developed and approved by the International Council for Respiratory Care (ICRC). Dr. Zhang, Governor for China to the ICRC, assembled an impressive faculty which included the Past-President of the Korean Critical Care Society, 3 speakers from the US and a number of local experts. The faculty included Natalie Napolitano, MPH, RRT-NPS, FAARC, neonatal-pediatric specialist. Natalie is a member of the AARC International Committee. In addition Michael McPeck, MS, RRT and James Fink, MS, RRT from the US were distinguished faculty members. Post-program surveys indicated a high degree of participant satisfaction that seminar objectives were met.
