
The University of Doha for Science and Technology Celebrates RC Week
November 14, 2024The 35th Annual Conference of the Taiwan Society for Respiratory Therapy (TSRT) was held on April 12, 2025 at the Zhide Building of Taipei Veterans General Hospital. More than 450 respiratory therapists from all over the province attended the conference. The theme of this conference was “Development of Respiratory Therapy Profession in Taiwan”. In addition to discussing the future direction of respiratory therapy profession in Taiwan, Canada, the Philippines and Singapore also shared their development.

Invited were Dean R. Hess, PhD, RRT, FAARC, Managing Editor of the American Journal of Respiratory Care, Andrew West, EdD, RRT, FCSRC, CEO of the Canadian Association of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), Hassan S. Alorainy, BSrc, RRT, FAARC, former Vice President of the International Council for Respiratory Care (ICRC) from Saudi Arabia, Noel S. Tiburcio, PhD, RRT-NPS, RTRP, Philippine Committee Member of the ICRC, Anna Moniba P. Dela Cruz, RTRP, MAHSE, PhD, Dean of the School of Respiratory Therapy at UPH-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University, Philippines, and Huang Ching-Feng (Meredith), Head of the Respiratory Therapy department at Singapore General Hospital. This seminar was also highly valued by government agencies. In addition to the personal presence of Deputy Minister of Ministry of Health and Welfare Lin Jing-Yi, there were also distinguished guests such as Special Commissioner Guo Wei-Zhong of the Medical Affairs Department and Advisor Ye Shou-Shan of the Legislative Yuan.

The 16th First Member Representative Conference elected new directors and supervisors, and Associate Professor Yang Shi-Xing of the Department of Respiratory Therapy at Fu Jen Catholic University was elected President.

It also attracted the participation of many teachers and students from the Department of Respiratory Therapy in the Philippines. Therefore, an international Youth Leaders luncheon was held for them to allow Taiwanese students to communicate with them.


The TSRT not only cooperated with the CSRT to establish an international respiratory therapy professional information survey platform, but also signed an academic exchange memorandum with the College of Allied Health Sciences, Trinity University of Asia in the Philippines.

Before the conference ended, Dr. Dean Hess was invited to help with the raffle and award ceremony. Members were also happy to take photos with KFC Grandpa.
