September 30, 2014The 10th Annual Convention of the Association for Respiratory Care Practitioners in the Philippines (ARCPP) convened July 24-25, 2014 in Manila, Philippines. The meeting held at The SMX International Convention Center was attended by 760 respiratory therapy staff, students and faculty. The attendees also took part in recognizing and celebrating the 21st National Respiratory Care Week in the Philippines. As part of the convention ARCPP Executive Advisers met with members of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) – Professional Regulatory Board for Respiratory Therapy (PRBRT) to discuss the present status of the RT profession in the Philippines and its future direction. Planning elements of this session call for the potential development of RT Specialty Credentialing Boards in the Philippines.
In conjunction with the Annual Meeting more than 100 new Respiratory Therapist Registered in the Philippines (RTRP) took their oath of practice on July 27, 2014. This 3rd Annual RTRP Oath-taking Ceremony was presided over by Julita Toledo, Chair of the Professional Regulatory Board for Respiratory Therapy. The next RT Board Exam in the Philippines is scheduled for September 10-11, 2014, and in preparation the Emirates Association of Respiratory Care Practitioners (EARCP) is conducting a weekly review and preparation for its 25 members who will be sitting for the examination. Noel Tiburcio, Governor for the Philippines to the International Council for Respiratory Care (ICRC) has been conducting the review sessions being held over the last three months.
